Dr. Arvind Sharma was born on 12th Oct. 1963 in Distt. Rohtak, Haryana. His father is a retired principal and mother a humble housewife. His schooling was done from Kendriya Vidyalya. He did his B.D.S from Dental College Rohtak. Then he went to Ahemdabad to pursue his M.D.S (Prosthodontics). He is married to Dr. Rita Sharma a doctor (radiologist) by profession. The couple is having two lovely children, one daughter Akshayta Sharma and one son Chandril Bhardwaj. Dr. Arvind Sharma is charismatic, dynamic, humble, honest, down to earth person.
After Completing his M.D.S. Dr. Arvind Sharma wanted to serve the masses. Dr. Sharma hailing from Village Majra in Bahadurgarh served as Dental Surgeon at Rohtak in the Haryana Civil Medical Services for few years before starting his own clinic in Delhi. His Clinic flourished very well. He had been doing social work for a number of years. He is bestowed with strong urge to render social life from his Grandfather, father and mother who led a pious and noble life. Some unknown force motivated him to leave his flourishing practice and to stand up to improve the pathetic state of rural people who fell short of potable water, food, medicines etc. The work which was started single handedly was appreciated by one andale and people joined hands willingly. Soon several social workers and philanthropists joined the fleet and gathered to form a large team. The flood which ravaged the region in 1995 forced to devote all his time and energy serving people. During the same time he arranged relief work for the people in Sonepat and nearby places. He also organized medical assistance for the District.
Politics was never been a cup of tea for him but he was forced by the overwhelming support from the farmers, artisans, intellectuals cutting across castes & sectarian belief. Being totally apolitical he was persuaded and driven to enter politics. He in reality embraced politics just two months prior to General elections. Thus a budding and youthful social worker was relived as representative of masses.
The main plank on which he contested his first election was the Panchayat Raj system. He has already worked for panchayati raj as the Sanchalak of the Panchayati Raj Sangharsh Morcha a social outfit which he floated immediately after the Zila Parishad 2nd Panchayat Elections in the State of Haryana in June 1995.
Another problem that he proposed to address is that of drinking water. “Of the 750 villages in Sonepat, 150 had water problem. Women in form or the other were still travelling miles to fetch potable drinking water”
The main problems before the people was of water and commuting for workplaces. He did his best to ensure that hundreds of people who travel from Sonipat to Delhi everyday donot have to move in trains which were fully packed. There was immediate needs for more trains linking Sonipat and Delhi to ensure punctuality of office goers and industrial workers necessity to boost work output.
Yet another way he helped the people in his then constituency who had to travel to Delhi to earn the livelihood is by encouraging and motivating industrialist and consequently creating jobs locally. A Sugar Mill not so known in a place like Gohana not only generated an industry but also helped the farmers as they will not have to take their produce to distant bigger towns. They can take their Sugarcane directly to the sugarmill adjacent to the town of Gohana which was fully functional and provide work and job to thousands of folks directly and indirectly.
Dr. Arvind Sharma totally apolitical saw faith and love of the people that made him plunge in to politics two months prior to general elections. Earlier he only engaged himself in social works. He was popular among all castes and sections of the society and all age group. He worked for 18 hours a day and this practise remains the same till today. He is always aware and seized up for his peoples matters. He is inherently known for submissiveness and coherent mild manners.
